Is there a hospital on Bainbridge Island?

Bainbridge Island has high quality medical personnel and services from Virginia Mason and Harrison Medical Center on the island, as well as many independent practitioners, chiropractors, naturopaths, physical therapists, acupuncturists and more. Even though there is not a hospital, we do have urgent care services and primary and specialty care available.

In the Fall of 2013, Harrison Medical Center plans to break ground on a new clinic centrally located on Bainbridge Island that will offer 24-hour urgent care service along with other medical services and laboratory facilities. This addition will round out an already professional level of care for islanders.

Many people looking at moving to Bainbridge ask where the closest maternity services are for child birth. From Bainbridge, there are two popular choices for women looking for a hospital to have their baby: downtown Seattle hospitals or the Harrison Medical Center located in Silverdale, Washington. Both provide excellent care and are reachable in under an hour (for those who may be in a hurry) with the Silverdale location drivable across the Agate Pass bridge.

For emergency situations occurring on the island, a helicopter airlift can go from the island to speedily transport seriously injured people to Seattle area hospitals.
