Description
The Polar Bear Plunge takes place every January 1st at noon.
A few hundred Bainbridge Islanders show up between 11:30 - 11:45 and find parking along Lytle Road or on Pleasant Beach Drive. Then walk to the beach and find friends and neighbors.
At 11:58am, strip down to your bathing suit.
At noon, run into the water, dunk, run out of the water, and warm up with your favorite blanket and beverage.
Pro tip: don't wear flip flops as they'll come off as soon as you're running in the water. And definitely don't come barefoot as your feet will numb and the rocks hurt to run on. Wear Tevas or water shoes to enjoy the event to the fullest.
In past years there have been bon fires, jugglers, photographers and music at the event, as well as the local newspaper reporter.
