The Fluffy Ruff Dog Spa was opened in December, 2008 by Julie Rust. Julie is a National Certified Master Groomer. She first decided to look into dog grooming as a career while doing volunteer work at Pell City Animal Shelter in Pell City, Alabama. She went weekly to take photographs of dogs and cats at the shelter, and then posted them on petfinder.com with descriptions. She found she enjoyed working countless hours with dogs. Around this time, her job at a ladder warehouse was eliminated by the company's losing a contract to Chinese competition.
