Description
This service being offered by Kitsap Transit gives residents and visitors two ways to ride: 1. Hop the bus at a scheduled stop. Tell the driver where you want to go and you’re on your way. The bus will have regularly scheduled stops at the Bainbridge Ferry Terminal, Bloedel Reserve and Lynwood Center. 2. Call to schedule a ride. If you want to catch the bus anywhere on the Island, call at least two hours in advance and the bus will come to you. Rides can be scheduled by calling 1-844-4BI-RIDE.
Fares on B.I. RIDE will cost $2.00, and can be paid with exact cash, ORCA card E-purse, or using a Kitsap Transit monthly bus pass or regional Puget Pass. There will be a reduced fair of $1.00 for qualified senior, disabled, youth or low-income ORCA card holders using E-purse, or cash riders showing a regional reduced fair permit card. Children under six years of age and bicycles will ride for free.
B.I. RIDE is possible through a collaborative effort between Kitsap Transit, the City of Bainbridge Island and support from the Chamber of Commerce. According to City Manager Doug Schulze, B.I. RIDE brings a much needed service to residents of the Island, “B.I. RIDE gives our residents the opportunity to catch the bus to enjoy shopping, lunch, the park, or a movie. It gives students a way to get to summer activities while their parents are at work. It will also allow our visitors who walk-on the ferry another transportation option for seeing the amazing attractions we have on Bainbridge Island.
