Itinerary for Bainbridge Island
Bainbridge Island, WA 98110

By Cindy Jones

Once the grandkids have been thoroughly bounced, sample these special selections for the older visitor.

The Bainbridge Island Senior Community Center is an excellent resource. The Senior Center offers loads of weekly programs including walks, line dancing, tai chi classes, card games and much more. Organized outings are also available, such as a one-day trip to Mount Rainier or a guided tour of farms on the island.

For cultural entertainment, take a look at the calendar for Bainbridge Performing Arts. The schedule might include theatrical or dance performances, chamber music, concerts by the symphony or improv shows.

Get out the swimsuit and bathing cap (remember the ones with plastic flowers all over them?). The Bainbridge Aquatic Center offers plenty of opportunities to exercise or relax. Seniors get a discounted rate for daily or monthly passes, which include access to the steam room, sauna, swirl pool, lazy river, lap pool and more.

Journey back through the years at the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum. The museum’s collections cover an impressive range—from journals, maps and diaries, to artwork, blueprints and archeological finds. The audio recordings are another favorite feature; be sure to check out the collection of oral histories and music.

Take in a movie or take a beautiful stroll. The Lynwood Theatre and Bainbridge Cinemas both offer senior discounts; so does the lovely Bloedel Reserve.
