Where on the Island Can I Donate Clothing I No Longer Wear?

By Lizbeth Jones

Sometimes, even when you’re done donning, it can still be hard to give up a once-loved garment. Thankfully, there’s an easy way to bid adieu to your gently used clothing while also helping a worthwhile cause.

Bainbridge Bargain Boutique is a thrift store which donates all of its net proceeds from sales to Seattle Children’s Hospital. Conveniently nestled in downtown Winslow, the inviting shop has been quietly bettering the lives of those in need of pediatric healthcare for nearly 50 years.

Not your typical thrift store, Bainbridge Bargain Boutique offers quality items that are carefully selected and displayed for a pleasant shopping experience. Along with clothing, they also showcase furniture, antiques, decor, jewelry, children’s toys, collectibles and books as well as high-end gems from brands like Ann Taylor, Louis Vuitton and Nordstrom.

“People are surprised to learn that we also have corporate contracts with companies such as Zulily for brand new apparel too,” said Bargain Boutique’s manager, Robin Denis.

One of six Seattle area Bargain Boutiques serving the hospital, Bainbridge’s boutique also participates in fundraisers, their curated vintage collections making for interesting historical fashion shows that showcase featured decades.

Donations can be dropped off Monday through Saturday behind the building where volunteers receive items and offer receipts for tax deductions.
