Hi there,
Monday's ferry disruption made getting to and from Seattle a scramble. Engine-room crew call-outs halted our route and much of the ferry system. If you were affected, you can share your experience at or through the Bainbridge Ferry Advisory Committee.
On a happier transportation note, the new Lost Valley Trail opened October 1, completing a cross-island connection roughly 30 years in the making. The wooded, mile-long trail connects the Head of the Bay with Fletcher Bay Road. That means a continuous walk of nearly 6.8 miles from the ferry terminal to Schel Chelb beach.
Our familiar Frog Rock has also earned a place on the Washington Heritage Register. A little recognition for one of our island's most familiar faces.

Last week's trivia asked how many intersections have a full red, yellow, and green traffic light. The correct answer is six, all along Highway 305 between the ferry and Day Road.

For buyers watching the housing market, Zillow forecasts a 1.8% home-value decline over the next year. That's a forecast, though. Its reported typical island home value is about $1.18 million, slightly above a year ago.
Finally, Bloodworks Northwest and Bethany Lutheran are hosting a blood drive October 9 and 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. Book an appointment for Friday or Saturday.
