    Pounding in Good Fortune

    On January 11, 2025, Bainbridge Island continues its cherished Mochi Tsuki celebration, a tradition spanning over three decades. This annual event brings the community together to welcome good fortune for the New Year through the time-honored practice of mochi-making. Participants of all ages gather to steam sweet rice over open fires and pound it into sticky cakes using traditional cherry wood mallets and granite bowls.
