    Kayaking Alongside the USS Nimitz

    A familiar sight to south-end islanders is the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz gliding through Rich Passage to or from nearby Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton. A well-timed kayak outing one serene September evening gave Michael Cyger the good fortune to paddle alongside the Nimitz (but not too close!) and enjoy an unrivaled view. A crescent moon rising above the massive aircraft carrier added celestial magic to the scene, making this moment truly unforgettable.
