Lynwood Center, Bainbridge Island

Lynwood Center is the south-end village: Tudor storefronts, a 1936 movie house, pizza, Thai, burgers, a wine bar, and an inn you can actually sleep in. Pleasant Beach Village sits across the street. Smaller and slower than Winslow. Not a walk from the ferry.

Google Maps and some listings spell it Lynnwood. The village is Lynwood — one N. About ten minutes by car from downtown. Island-wide clocks: visitor guide.

Directions

Neighborhood map: Lynwood Center listing. This page is what to do when you get there.

This is dinner-plus-a-slower-evening, not a squeeze between Bloedel and the 6:40 boat.

BI Ride helps if you walked onto the ferry. A last-boat gamble after a 7:30 show is how you learn lodging prices.

Eat

The village is small enough to walk. Kitchens still go dark on odd days — check the listing before you commit a ride.

  • Treehouse Cafe — 4569 Lynwood Center Rd NE. Specialty pizza, soups, salads, sandwiches. Family dining in the restaurant; 21+ bar and billiards in the back. Fifteen outdoor tables when weather allows. No reservations; large groups can call the office. Takeout: (206) 842-2814. Hours on their site are 11 a.m.–9 p.m. daily.
  • Pane d’Amore — same block, 4569 Lynwood Center Rd NE. The bakery. Bread, hard work, island flour when they can. Come in the morning if you want the good loaves still on the rack.
  • Hammy’s Burgers — 4688 Lynwood Center Rd. Angus burgers, hand-pressed fries, onion rings, tots, thick shakes. Casual, inexpensive, easy with kids.
  • Raíces Cocina & Bar — 4569 Lynwood Center Rd NE. Formerly Miguelito’s Lynwood; same team, Mexican scratch cooking, margaritas. Closed Monday and Sunday on current listing hours.
  • Ginn D Thai — 4765 Lynwood Center Rd NE. Formerly Sawan. Panang, pad Thai, massaman, spring rolls, spice level on request. Dine-in, takeout, private dining.

Pane d’Amore bakery in Lynwood Center
Pane d’Amore is the morning reason to come south. Pizza and a movie are the evening reason.

Full island menus stay in the directories: restaurants, cafes.

Drink

  • By the Glass at the Marketplace — wine bar in Pleasant Beach Village. Afternoon hours. Pair it with a bottle to walk back to the inn, not with a vineyard crawl on the other end of the island.
  • Treehouse bar — craft beer on draft, a small wine list, two pool tables, steel-tip darts, three TVs. 21+ in that room. Local art rotates on the walls.
  • Raíces — margaritas, beer, wine. Closed Monday and Sunday.

If tasting rooms are the point of the day, that is a different loop: wineries on Bainbridge Island. Most of those are not in Lynwood.

Historic Lynwood Theatre

One screen in a Tudor building at 4569 Lynwood Center Rd NE. Edna and Emanuel Olson opened it July 3, 1936 as the island’s first theatre with spoken sound — what people then called a “talking picture” house — with Times Square Playboy and She Couldn’t Take It. After the five-screen Bainbridge Cinemas opened in town, this room became the Historic Lynwood Theatre. Remodel in 1994 (sound, lobby, seats). Still one room. Hot popcorn. Foreign, classic, and indie films. There is also a stage for live concerts, performances, and Q&As.

Something you will not find on a chain cinema site: you can put a message on the historic marquee. Birthdays, proposals, “welcome off the boat.” Book it here: Reserve the Historic Marquee.

Treehouse nights

Treehouse is two rooms in one building. Up front: family pizza, soups, salads, sandwiches. In back: a 21-and-over pub with two pool tables, steel-tip darts, and a small stage. Touring songwriters have played that room — Hayes Carll, James McMurtry, Greg Brown, Eilen Jewell, Mary Gauthier, Ray Wylie Hubbard. Their own site currently calls live music occasional. The listing still tells the touring-act story. Check the calendar the week you come.

Summer is when the fifteen patio tables fill and the village stays out later. Pool and darts on a rainy Tuesday are still the village. No reservations for dinner; call the office for a large party or a private room.

Stay at the inn

You can sleep here. The Inn at Pleasant Beach is in the village at 4699 NE Woodson Lane — individually furnished rooms, fireplaces, balconies. Walk to Marketplace, By the Glass, Hammy’s, Treehouse, Raíces, Ginn D. This is the stay if Lynwood is the point of the trip, not a crash pad after a Winslow day. Courts plus this inn: pickleball weekend.

Upcoming events

Lynwood’s calendar is movies, Treehouse shows, Theatre concerts, Marketplace music, patio nights, and whatever the village hangs on a poster. Summer is the busy season. Mid-September 2026 on the island calendar:

  • Sat Sep 19: Live music — Ocean Men at the Marketplace, 4738 Lynwood Center Road NE.
  • Sun Sep 20: The Plastic Detox Movie at the Historic Lynwood Theatre, 4569 Lynwood Center Road NE.
  • Nearby the same weekend: Surfrider beach cleanup at Fire+Floe on Point White Drive (Sep 19). Trails work party at Fort Ward (Sep 19).

Those dates move. For the full list of upcoming events, use the island calendar and the venue sites — do not treat this page as the box office:

The Olsons built the Tudor shopping center in the 1930s. A passenger ferry ran from Point White to Bremerton until 1972, which is why this end of the island still feels like a town instead of a subdivision. Come for that, plus dinner.

Getting there from the ferry

The Seattle ferry lands you in Winslow. Lynwood is south. About ten minutes. There is no freeway. Highway 305 backs up when a boat unloads.

  • Car. Worth putting a vehicle on the boat if dinner, a movie, and the inn are the trip.
  • No car. BI Ride is the useful connector (ferry–Bloedel–Lynwood). A taxi, Uber, or Lyft also work. Request the ride back before curtain.

Nearby if you already came south: Fort Ward Park, Lytle Beach, Gazzam Lake. Do not add Bloedel. Getting around.
