Where was pickleball invented?

    About Bainbridge Island

Bainbridge Island, Washington, in 1965, by Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell, and Barney McCallum.

Empty outdoor pickleball courts at a public park

That is the origin of the sport, not a claim that every court on earth is here. USA Pickleball’s history is the governing-body version. Local public play: Battle Point Park Founders Courts, first come, first served. Camera before you drive: anyone playing pickleball?.

Name-origin stories (the dog Pickles vs a pickle boat) are disputed. The island and the year are not.

If you came for a ferry day, pickleball is an extra, not the walk-on loop. Visitor guide.
