Description
Join Creative Resident and Poet, Marshall Woodward, for this interactive 90-minute workshop. We’ll read poems that highlight how each writer and poet has a unique gaze – a distinct way of looking at the land in their view. Time will be divided between selected readings, group discussion, focused writing time, and walks focused on how we observe the world around us. We’ll read selections from Robert Hass, Larry Levis, Vievee Francis, and others. We’ll pay particular attention to the geology and ecology of the sand, stone, and land in front of us around Bloedel Reserve’s Japanese Guest House. Participants can expect to leave the workshop with a poem and a new perspective on nature writing.
