Description
Feeding Your Demons® is an accessible approach for dealing with challenging emotions, obstacles, fears, self-defeating patterns or pain—anything that seems to be demanding your attention. This accessible and effective method has helped thousands of people transform negative emotions, anxiety, depression, anger and habitual behaviors.
Lama Tsultrim Allione (American author and teacher who has studied in Tibetan Buddhism's Karma Kagyu lineage) developed Feeding Your Demons® (FYD) as a five-step process that guides the practitioner to identify and transform their shadow parts into protective allies through a sequence of illuminating questions and creative visualizations. FYD is an adaptation of the ancient Tibetan Chöd ritual practice developed by the Tibetan Buddhist nun Machig Labdrön (1055–1149). FYD deftly synthesizes Chöd, parts-work, somatic therapy, Gestalt therapy and Jungian depth psychology.
FYD has practitioners on five continents, and Lama Tsultrim’s book, Feeding Your Demons: Ancient Wisdom for Resolving Inner Conflict (Little Brown Co. 2008), has been published in fourteen languages. The work transcends spiritual constructs, serving as a meaningful tool for anybody, regardless of religious affiliation or personal philosophy.
Ann Strickland, LMHC, is a certified Feeding Your Demons® facilitator and practicing psychotherapist on Bainbridge Island. Ann has been leading Sanskrit mantra chanting on the island and at retreats for almost 15 years.
