This event features many musicians you may have seen and heard at other local jams. It's the second episode of an event format first tried at Pegasus on December 7th with considerable success and good reviews from players and listeners alike.
More than a third of the 20+ musicians (30+ this time) receiving email invitations for the December event showed up to play, had a lot of fun, and demonstrated to each other the quality results obtainable when all participants stay plugged into what I enjoy calling "the Group Ear."
The December invitations generated a lot of positive feedback about the concept, including from musicians not available to join us. Because of the interest among those who couldn't make it there's a good chance for a bigger number this time. Thus the "rotational" aspect of the format is likely to come more into play.
The experimental format:
Each musician agrees to lead a few of their favorite songs, and is encouraged to 1.) invite others from the larger group to join in the lead, and 2.) specify what level of support they'd like from the rest. This is meant to encourage the remaining musicians either to "sit this one out" or, at the least, to hold way back - while staying plugged into "the group ear" to hear how they're fitting into "the mix"!
