Ella and John Robina have had a wonderful life for more than 60 years. Now, in their eighties, Ella suffers from cancer, among other health issues, and John has Alzheimerโs. Yearning for one last adventure, they kidnap themselves from their adult children and doctors to take a vacation of rediscovery. Off they go in their โ78 Leisure Seeker RV along the forgotten roads of Route 66 toward Disneyland.
The Island Theatre production stars Jennifer Waldron and John Kenny, and features the Agate Pass Threshold Choir. The choir offers simple harmonies to those navigating illness, grief or nearing the end of life. Their music is offered freely to individuals and families.
The play was adapted and directed by Diane Bankart from the best-selling novel by Michael Zadoorian. Like most Island Theatre productions, it is performed script-in-hand. It is recommended for high school age and up.
